Abstract

Based on comparative analyses of the Faroese ballad CCF 127 "Flúgvandi biðil" (The flying suitor) (TSB A 44: Ridderen i fugleham –Knight in bird’s disguise) the author argues that the "bird and woman" motif in some cases serves as methaphor of suppressed female desire.
