Línuskip fáa eini 5.000-25.000 havhestar á hvørjum ári. Havhestarnir royna at taka agnið av línuni, men gerast fastir og drukna. Hóast hjáveiðan helst hevur lítla ávirkan á havhestastovnin, er tað óheppið, at so nógvur fuglur verður dripin til onga nyttu.
