Abstract
Throughout the years bodily politics have been excluded from the Danish gender equality agenda and in the area of sexual and gendered violence against women, Denmark can be considered a late mover. As new forms of sexual and gendered violence are emerging, for instance technology driven violence such as cyberstalking and online harassment, it appears urgent to analyze and understand the processes by which key themes and politics within this area have developed and emerged. It appears that in many ways the body has in new ways resurfaced as a site of contestations and complex debates in Europe and the rest of the West. In recent times stalking and online harassment has, in particular, triggered new political debates across different countries. This calls for a renewed focus on bodily aspects of everyday life and gender relations in contemporary societies. In this chapter, we address the Europeanization processes of two policy areas within the broad field of bodily politics, namely stalking and online harassment. The point of departure is the Danish case, analyzed comparatively within the Nordic context.
