Abstract
The main conclusions from the fjord investigations 1985-90 are presented. The investigations aimed at studying the oxygen conditions in the bottom waters of the three sill fjords Skálafjørður, Kaldbaksfjørður and Sundalagið. The first of these has clearly been affected by antropogenic releases so that the probability of anoxia is increased significantly. The two other fjords have not been affected to the same degree, but both of them may be close to a critical threshold.
