Abstract
The general use of unmanned vehicles, and unmanned aerial vehicles in particular, has grown at a dramatic rate over the past few years. The applications of such vehicles in the field of geomatics are no exception. The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International predicts that the unmanned aerial system industry in the USA will generate $82 billion and produce 100,000 jobs between 2015 and 2025 (AUVIS 2013). Further to this, the theory of such technologies and applications is implemented into a growing number of education courses. Therefore, a comprehensive source of up-to-date information is useful for those either already implementing such technologies in geomatics or planning to do so. This review covers the newly published book “Unmanned Vehicle Systems for Geomatics, towards robotic mapping”.
