Abstract

Radioactivity from 137Cs has been studied in Faroese soil, grass and lamb meat during the years 1990-2003, focusing on levels and trends together with estimates of transfer factors and effective ecological halflives. The terrestrial 137Cs contamination derives from nuclear weapons tests in the 1950’s and 1960’s and from the nuclear reactor accident in Chernobyl in 1986.
