Project Details

Description

This is a long-term, working partnership between the University of the West of Scotland and Oxfam Scotland. The Partnership emerged as a result of collaborative work between UWS staff and Oxfam and its community partner organisations in the period between 2007 and 2011. This work revolved around the development of Oxfam’s antipoverty advocacy and campaigning in Scotland. The Partnership was formally established in 2011-12, and combined research and knowledge exchange linking UWS academics and Oxfam and with various external partners - including community organisations, and a series of UWS-Oxfam Partnership Policy Forum meetings (seminars, workshops, etc) focused on a range of salient issues. More information about the work of the Partnership and its various outputs (projects, reports, publications and events) can be found at: https://uwsoxfampartnership.org.uk/

Professor Collins led the Partnership from the UWS side between 2011-12 and 2019. The Partnership was supported by an initial award of of some 50,000 GBP from the Strategic Development Fund of the University of the West of Scotland in 2011/12, and thereafter was supported by additional resourcing from other partners/collaborators, both in kind and monetary. The work of the Partnership is ongoing, and Professor Collins remains associated with that work in his position as Visiting Professor at the University of the West of Scotland.
