Project Details
Description
The project will investigate the speech development of Faroese-speaking children, through the collection of speech samples from both children and the creation of a pilot speech sound acquisition assessment. Faroese is an under-researched language, especially in the research on children with typical and atypical speech acquisition. Knowledge of typical speech sound acquisition, normative data on speech sound acquisition, and a culturally and linguistically appropriate assessment for obtaining speech samples from children are necessary to accurately and reliably identify children with speech sound disorder (SSD).
