Project Details
Description
The Rural Education in the North (REN) project will further strengthen the UArctic Thematic Network for Teacher Education for Social Justice and Diversity through research activities examining rural education provision across the north. Drawing together academics and educational practitioners in diverse geographical, cultural and linguistic contexts, the project aims to collate small-scale action research projects focusing on locally identified priorities for provision such as multi-stage classes, Indigenous curriculum and/or pedagogy, teacher preparation and retention, ongoing teacher professional development, linguistic diversity.
The outcomes of the project will be two-fold; to further strengthen the network through shared research activity on an area of interest to the participating institutions and of key importance to the region and the dissemination of findings from locally driven action research through publication of an edited book. Although grounded in the circumpolar north, the main target for the book will be educational policymakers, practitioners and academics working in the field of rural education globally.
