Project Details

Description

The objective of this project is to simulate wave generated currents, and to identify the weather conditions generating this phenomena. Fish farmers in the Faroe Islands already operates in relatively harsh wave conditions, and around the world the aquaculture industry is seeking options for expanding into areas more exposed to ocean waves. Fiskaaling has in collaboration with the fish farming company MOWI Faroes identified wave generated currents to be one of the main challenges for operations in wave exposed areas. Both for financial, but indeed also from a fish health perspective, further research of this phenomena is required.

This is the PhD project for Heðin Abrahamsen.
