Personal profile

I am an assistant professor and the deputy dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of the Faroe Islands. I am initially educated as a nurse at Bispebjerg Nursing School, Copenhagen and have extended experience as a diabetes nurse in Denmark and the Faroe Islands. I hold a Master of Science in Health Sciences from the University of Southern Denmark and a PhD in Health Science from the University of the Faroe Islands. My research is based on RCT studies of patient groups and school children who have used football games as an exercise intervention to prevent and treat diseases and promote health. I am part of the Football Fitness research network at the University of Southern Denmark and am involved in teaching and engaging start-up football fitness teams in football associations in the Faroe Islands.
I am currently the president of the Faroese Diabetes Organisation.

Research Interests

My main field of interest within research is health promotion and disease prevention with lifestyle changes such as exercise and diet.

I have experience with randomized controlled trials of school children and older people and patient groups, where we have used football games as an exercise intervention to promote health and prevent and treat diseases. I am part of the Football Fitness research network at the University of Southern Denmark.

I have experience obtaining funding for research projects.

Teaching

I have extensive experience teaching in the nursing program and also in the master's education in health sciences at the University of the Faroe Islands. The subjects I mainly teach at the moment are:

  • Physical Activity and Inactivity
  • Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
  • Rehabilitation
  • Quantitative Methods and Research Designs
  • Basic Nursing
