Personal profile

Martin Tvede Zachariasen is Professor of Computer Science and Rector at the University of the Faroe Islands. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Copenhagen in 1998, and was Head of the Computer Science Department at the university from 2008 to 2014. From 2015 to 2018, he was Dean at the Faculty of Science, University of Southern Denmark, and from 2019 to 2021 Vice Chancellor at the IT University in Copenhagen.

  • Member of Board, Finanstilsynet / Danish Financial Supervision Authority, from July 2021. The primary task is supervision of financial undertakings: banks, mortgage-credit institutions, pension and insurance companies, etc.
  • Member of Board, LIFE Fonden, from December 2020. The purpose is to increase the motivation and interest among children and young people in science disciplines.
