Lecturer at the Nursing School of the Faroe Islands (Deildin fyri Heilsu- og Sjúkrarøktarvísindi, Fróðskaparsetur Føroya)

Since I started as a lecturer at Faculty of Health Science, I have mainly been responsible for courses on the first year of nursing students. Part of my daily job as a lecturer is to study new research results and academic literature in the field of nursing in order to stay updated with the newest knowledge. My teaching includes several topics related to basic nursing, ethics, nursing theories and a part of the teaching is simulation training. I have also organized teaching in "anatomy, physiology and biochemistry". Every year, I am a supervisor on bachelor's project.

I have an interest and experience in clinical and theoretical nursing. I have competence in qualitative research design. The subject in my Master´s thesis was: “Experience of district nurses when taking over responsibility for patients with complex needs in transition from hospital to home.” The data used for the thesis was collected through focus group interviews with district nurses who had experience from this line of work.

Currently, I am part of a research group conducting a research project called ‘Medication use and health status among elderly Faroese citizens’ which is led by Maria Skaalum Petersen. The study has a quantitative and a qualitative part, where I am responsible for the qualitative part of the project. Currently, I have interviewed 10 elderly Faroese Citizens over 90 years old who live at home and 10 of their relatives to hear about everyday life with daily intake of medicine.
