Johnny í Grótinum is a Teaching Lecturer at the department of Social Science at the University of the Faroe Islands. He is an economist educated from the University of Copenhagen in 2003. 

In the period from 2003-2015 he held various management positions in the Faroese banking sector. From 2015-17 he held the position as CEO of the National Hospital of the Faroe Islands, and from 2017-18 he was the CEO of the National Broadcasting Organization of the Faroes. He has also worked as a business consultant. 

Started in a full time position at the University in 2019.
