Personal profile

Personal profile

Jóhannus Kristmundsson is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Science and Technology, holding a PhD in Ocean Engineering and Computer Science.

Research interests

His research is primarily focused on advancing signal processing methods for multibeam sonars. In addition to this, Jóhannus has a profound interest in oceanic measurements, including expertise in Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP), CTD, and wave measurement technologies. His work also encompasses developments in multi-antenna RFID reader systems.

In his previous collaborative projects with Intel Mobile Communications, Jóhannus contributed significantly to the creation of methods for developing codebooks for 5G devices. This included modeling the real-life constraints faced by 5G devices. His skill set further extends to areas such as automation testing and the calibration of 5G phase shifters.

During his tenure at Aalborg University, he undertook a notable project which involved building a satellite beacon receiver. This project was aimed at studying the short-term scattering and fading in millimeter waves caused by rain. Jóhannus’s research interests are diverse, encompassing communication systems (including measurements), modeling, data science, and other related fields.
