Personal profile

Erla Olsen is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Education. She started teaching Biology for teachers in 2011 and was made Assistant Professor in 2013 and later Associate Professor (2017). From 2017-18 she was Programme Leader for Teacher education and was Dean from 2018-2024.

Research interests

Educational research: Teaching and learning with regard to subjects of natural science. The methods are mostly surveys, focus groups as well as individual interviews and statistical analyses. PISA and national tests as indicators for the Faroese educational system in a wider context, combined with surveys on students’ well-being, attitude to school and ITC usage.

Biological research: The ecology of the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and the impact on the symbionts of factors such as temperature, grazing, precipitation, light, etc.
