Bárður Larsen

I have been in the position at the University as associate professor since late 2022. Before that I was assistant professor since late 2014, and part time teacher from 2010 to 2014.        

Since 2014 I have been programme leader for first the master program in law, established in 2013, and since 2019 also for the bachelor programme in law and the new Master of Legal Practice (MLP).

In addition to being programme leader, I have also had other administrative experiences and responsibilities, including being a member of the Faculty Study Board, 2015-2021, and of the internal working group responsible for reviewing the legislation and regulations governing the University.

One of my most important achievements was designing a new law programme from 2016 onwards together with colleagues Kristian Joensen and Mikael M. Karlsson resulting in a bachelor programme starting in 2019 and a new Master of Legal Practice (MLP) in 2022. This five year traditional legal program was in 2022 recognised by the Danish Ministry of Justice as being on an equal footing with legal programs from Danish universities, giving graduates from the University of the Faroe Islands the ability to enter into the traditional, licensed, legal professions.

From April 2021 to September 2022 I was engaged in an externally funded (Faroese Research Council) project with a Spanish co-researcher on Laws and institution-building in the Faroe Islands in the context of the transfer of powers and competences within the Danish so-called Rigsfællesskab.

I have taught and co-taught courses at the University on a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to, Church Law, Basic Course in Law, Building and Planning Law, Legal Understanding (general jurisprudence), Faroese Administrative Law, Case Analysis, Comparative Law and Legal History.
