Uppgávan hjá deildini er at savna inn, skráseta, varðveita, granska djórlívið á landi og í feskvatni og at miðla vitan um hesi. Ítøkiligt virksemi fevnir m.a. um gransking og yvirvøku av fugli og ryggleysum djórum á landi og fiski og øðrum sløgum í feskvatni. Deildin varar av søvnum sum fevna um m.a. skinnlagdir fuglar, egg, og beinagrindir, ryggleys dýr í alkoholi og skordýrum á nál.

It is the objective of The Department of Terrestrial Zoology to collect, record, preserve and study landbased and freshwater animals, and to disseminate knowledge of these. Work done includes monitoring of birds and invertebrates, and studies of freshwater species. Collections include bird skins, eggs, skeletons, ethanol preserved invertebrates and pinned insects.
