Description

Musicological commentary  and discussion on the radio show Tey Brølandi Tjúguni - a six episode radio show about "The Roaring Twenties" on Kringvarp Føroya (National Broadcaster of the Faroe Islands). On the sixth and final episode, I talked about the first gramophone record to be released in the Faroes in 1928. This first record release in Faroese was sung by the Finnish soprano Signe Liljequist and released by two Danes (Conrad and Ehrenfryd Juhlert). The record features the Faroese traditional ballads "Árla var um morgunin" (Flóvin Bænadiktsson), "Rura, rura barnið", and "Óluvukvæðið" (Góða veitslu at gera).
